Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
I, and several others on this board have swapped in a manual gearbox, and most are happy with the results.
Yes, the lower gears make it much quicker off the line, and if you truly enjoy driving a manual, you'll love it, but it definitely changes the character of the SVX, make it much more sporty, but less docile, but this is common with about any car.
It does make the car cruise at higher RPM’s, but no higher than the Legacy’s 4-cylinder did.
I’ve mentioned before that people who want a faster SVX and want to keep an auto, should swap in some Legacy gears, this would be easier on the tranny, and increase take off dramatically, probably gain more in the quarter mile times for less money than any other mod. And should actually make the tranny hold up better.
I for one would like to see someone on this board do this for a before and after comparison.
