I tried just attaching one screw from behind....cut up my hand and top of my wrist pretty bad (didn't want to remove everything)....but Eric's right...you should remove as much as you can so you can get in there and properly secure it.

If memory serves me correct, there are two different types of lighter assemblies...My original had two simple spade connectors on the back....the new one has a plastic (squarish-shaped) connector and a separate bulb on the end of a wire....
