My New Sound System: Part 3 Avic f-900bt

Part 3 Avic f-900bt

Ok so I know my threads about my installs have been lacking a punctuality but seeing as I have most of these photos uploaded already I might as well start here.

Step one: Gut the front

I basically took the dash out to get the radio cage and most of surrounding trim so that I could slide my hands through to run the wires for the initial harness. I won't go into detail on these because there are plenty of how to's out there to find how to get these all out.

Step two: disconnecting stock system

This one is pretty self explanitory you disconnect all the wires from the stock stereo and pull her out and slide it out from the radio cage.

Step three: Test fit your new deck

In my case it was the Pioneer Avic f-900bt which was a perfect fit inside the stock radio cage as you can see here.

Step four: building the harnesses.

From here you'll want to take a look in the owners manual for your specific system and study which harness contains what wires and visualize how you are going to map your wires behind the deck.

If you do like I did and use SVXdc's harness you basically just connect all the wires that would be in the stock system up to their corresponding wires in the harness you get from him. This takes care of most of the first harness. I recommend that you solder and shrink tube all the connections, mine just for added protection I added extra electrical tape to make sure the ends were sealed
