Bill,
My obsession isn't that bad. My car just really needed a good clay barring. Most new cars today have clear coats that are kinda grainy to the touch. Clay barring really helps bring out the shine and smoothens out the finish. It also gets rid of all the crap that gets on the car during shipment to the US and transportation to the dealership.
