Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir to see if it is low.
Sounds like you may have damaged the rubber line when removing the caliper and it could be spraying brake fluid out. Once low enough - no brakes!
Alternatively - jack it up and take that wheel off, have someone pump the brakes hard while you look for a possible leak in the rubber line.
