Hello, no you dont have to pull the engine for either job. The drivers side valve cover is a little tricky (remove battery etc). Make sure you dont knock the new gaskets off when you install the covers. Do the valve covers first because when they are leaking oil is everywhere. I did mine and engine is now bone dry
. I still have my original cam seals in mine at 205,000 miles. Get all your gaskets at subaru dealer (get all the gaskets for each cover!) Also make sure you get the sealing washers for all the 16 bolts. Have fun!
