I was not aware that the shaft came out of the trany that easily.

thanks, I'll try that.

The sleeve comes out of the tranny, then install it onto the torque converter, then slide it back into the tranny, turn it and push it till it wont seat any farther, should be about a 1/4" inside the leading edge of the bell housing, then tie it in place so it won't slide forward while reinstalling the tranny, or you'll be removing it all again to get it to seat back.
