I dont know how the timing belt is layed out on these h6's but I know on an infinity you have to drop the engine, open up a compartment on the engine, place each cylinder, then you can put the belt on. Plus the belt is like motorcycle chain. So I'm guessing the belt cost anywhere from $50-$150, but then there's the labor of all that.

The belt lists for 100.00. but can be had for around 75.00 if you know where to look.
The major cost is in the labor (as is most things with the SVX). It isn't quite as complicated as the infinity. The reason it will cost so much, altogether, is, you'll probably want to replace anything else worn in there, in order to avoid re-paying for the labor later. Replace the cam and crank seals while they're there. The seals are not that terribly expensive, as I recall, around 50/60 bucks apiece (been a while) so, may as well replace them while they've done the labor. Same with the water pump. If you've got a lot of mileage, go ahead and change it. Another 50.00 part that can be replaced while all the "stuff's outta the way and avoid labor costs down the road.
