Good so James.
The throttle cable is on the left, cruise on the right.
Just remember one thing. If your cable was only dry, then lube is a permanent fix.
If your cable is frayed, as I suspect from the resistance you mentioned, then lube will help, but it may still snap sometime later and leave you stranded someplace. [Outback maybe??
]
Balance the cost of replacement against the inconvenience or danger of this. This is a 10 year old car remember.
