Pretty much any digital providing 2 megapixels or better (optical) is going to do a fine job for any pictures less than 8x10 in size. What you want to be careful of is the cameras that boast big megapixel numbers, but do it through interpolating the pixels in software (i.e., non-optical). What are the specs on the HP you picked up?
