Chris, unfortunately you also need a phone line to "up" when you use a sat. the sat wont send. The only thing it does is "down". So using it independently is impossible. On another note i know where you can get one real cheap.. My buddy just switched from sat/modem combo to DSL. and by the way, the sat wont work with free ISP's(juno netzero, etc.) so you have to pay for that service too.

all in all its not worth it...
