That's not true... It hardly ever only puts 10% to the rear wheels. On just normal acceleration from a stop it is usually between 70/30 and 60/40 split so driving without AWD puts a lot of extra stress on the front diff. About the only times that the AWD is in 90/10 is if you are coasting or braking.
