Thanks for the kind comments. I was sure thrilled when the brass insert happened to be the right diameter. What are the chances of that? But sometimes if you go to a hardware store and fiddle around, you get lucky.
And again, it galls me to be expected to pay that kind of money for a replacement of what was a poor design in the first place.
