Thumbs up OK for transport

Congrats on your first SVX, and by the sound of things, you intend to take good care of it.

However, I don't know where you got the notion the car should be in neutral for transportation, this is totally incorrect.

Your transport guys are quite correct here It is not safe to transport the car with the tranny in neutral. If the parking brake was inadequate, the weight of the car would overcome the lashing ropes, and do damage to the car/transporter.

Page 2 of the '92 Service Manual says on

2. TOWING:

a) Transport vehicle using a dolly or flat-bed truck whenever possible
b) Place the selector lever in "P" position and apply the parking brake.
