attempting to 'reverse' damage by nullifying the cause is futile. if it leaks now, it will continue to leak until it is either fixed, or the points at which it leaks are gummed with hardened oil and dirt, as mine are.
one way to find out if it leaks is to wash the underbody, then drive. if you smell burning oil, youve got a leak.
