Lee,
I've developed my opinion for several reasons,
1. Replaced a tranny at 70,000--$2100 for a complete rebuild. This SVX had 63,000 on it when we bought it. Tranny started slipping after 1,000 miles.
2. After reading as much info as I could find on SVX tranny maintenance I concluded more maintenance is better than recommened or less maintenance.
3. I use Fram X2 series spin on filters for motor oil and ATF. Fram claims the X2 filter is good for 7000 miles and that it has filter media that filters particals smaller than any other filter. I would not go 7000 miles on normal motor oil, I use synthetic in all 3 cars. I have a spin on filter on one SVX for ATF, that tranny has synthetic ATF in it and I intend to change the filter at 7000, ATF at 14000. By doing these fluid and filter change intervals I'm doing nearly all I can to give the tranny a long life, this SVX
has 85,000 on the original tranny.
