Unhappy filter change interval
Alan,
If we change oil filters at 3000 miles, up to 7000 miles if you use Fram X2 series, why would you go beyond 7000 miles for an ATF filter? Filters if changed frequently are a low cost way to extend tranny life. After 10000 miles you approach the point where the ATF by passes the filter element media and flows thru the filter as if there is no filter. If the filter can only filter for 3000 to 7000 miles, why leave it in longer? Bottom line: don't leave a filter in longer than it's ability to filter. End of lecture...
