Thanks. No screen just paper. Tranny fluid flows easier than motor oil. I have checked, the SVX and 91` legacy use the same tranny filter.
So I had my SVX engine out and in pieces. My wife and I were sharing 'THE 91 Legacy Wagon" and the tranny was acting up. It was banging real hard when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Then on the way home last Tuesday, it started bucking and going form 1st to 3rd. The fluid was brown and two weeks ago it was okay. I took the original tranny filter off (170k) and put the one from the SVX on it. It helped the problem. Then I adjusted the tranny band and that helped also. There is still a slight bang when shifting from 1st to 2nd but that has been normal for the past 2 years.
I think I'll take out the filter and try it.
