They compressed and were somewhat exposed after torquing, bringing up to operating temp and retorquing after cool-down. They were very effective.

I recall that they did slide in easily, I don't recall having a residual sleeve left behind as you describe.

I'd look this up in my Clymers but gave it away to my SVX' new owner.
