With a 5-speed conversion, and L model AWD SVX weighs about 3400 lbs. (My 4eat L model with 1/2 tank of gas weighed in at 3490 lbs on the local junkyard scale which is accurate to within 10 lbs.) ok, that's 300 lbs more than a WRX, but 3400 lbs is exactly the weight of the (in)famous Skyline GT-R33 and R34. Yes, you can call the SVX heavy if you want, but if you compare it to other cars that are potentially in the same class, the SVX doesn't score so badly.

I don't think it would be necessary to extend the front of the car to accommodate a turbo. You will have to be inventive in your placement of components though. Try the ForcedAirTech website to see where they stuffed their turbo. The intercooler can be placed in the wheelwell between the body of the car and the plastic splash shield.
