Both Intel and AMD have their release dates for Quad-Core processors around the same time in 2nd quarter of 2007 and Intel has decided to go with their conroe platform and AMD haven't released any of their ideas for their Quad-Core. But 2007 would be really a neck to neck competition for these two processor gaints. But Intel is really making its comeback with its conroe platform (at last good bye to their lazy netburst processors) . The Conroe X6800 kicks out any processor thrown against it and overclocks to 25% without loosing the system stability. I am running one of our lab systems with X6800 processor overclocked to 15% and that system is freaking fast for our memory intensive image processing/grabbing/waveform generating applications and runs at relatively low temps (39C - 42C) with just stock cooler.
