Our Levelten transmission failed recently as described in this thread:

Levelten have quoted me separate prices to repair the transmission and the torque converter.
My question is, given the symptoms (excessive slipping, heat, no reverse, black soupy fluid), is it more likely to be a problem with the Trans, TC or both?
If it's purely a trans problem then does the TC need replacing or will a good flush suffice. Ideally I don't want to ship a large heavy part half way around the world if there's nothing wrong with it.
