I changed mine and I still get scratches, They are not that tough but you have to take out the glass to change them. My advise would be to change the seal at the top of the door when you change the guides. Like Alycone said dirt + glass = scratches. I think the top door seal lets the dirt on the window get in the door and onto the guide pads where they press it into the glass. If you plan on doing it yourself I can walk you through changing the pads.
