Don't panic!

Don't get into a total sweat.

Don't drive it in4 with the car revving, this is slipping the brake band and the clutches, burning off friction material.

Drain and refill with new oil and an addititive as advised above.

Also, the brake band can be adjusted. See the End Wrench article here:

Print off the article and give it to the technician in your tranny place. A little adjustment now might stave off paying a fortune for a new tranny for a while.

PS A tranny cooler installed will help a lot, particularly if you drive a lot of traffic or hills. The other things you mentioned will make no difference.
