Wasn't the Stage III SC $7500? Wouldn't that be the benchmark price for a complete STI 2.5L motor and ECU? In just a few minutes of looking around, I found a wide range of engine options for under $7500. Many under $5K. None of these seem to include a turbo, but if the complete engine is only $3K (FXT 2.5L motor), then there's plenty of money to buy a nice turbo and build the rest of the exhaust stuff.

Then you'd just need to get an stock STI ECU, build a wiring harness, and do a bit of fab work. Heck, now that I think about it, if I had time and an SVX handy (don't have either lately), I'd do the swap and then make up a bunch of pre-programmed ECUs, harnesses, intercooler systems, and exhaust systems for sale.
