A lot of people put their race tires on something that doesn't need to look good, namely their original alloys or steel wheels. It's not like you have to worry about a steel wheel flexing on a strip.
I'm about to put whatever cheap wheel I can for my Justy for its race tires. Steel, alloy, I don't really care.
