I don’t know if I agree with mileage, but rather time. You can put 100K on a car in 3 years. Any good rubber hose should last that long. Would you change these hoses every 3 years?
Your polo hoses have been functioning well, undisturbed, for 20 years. If you use rubber again you should get that longevity again.
But the Viton has enough advantages of remaining stable under elevated temperatures (400°) as is the case under our manifolds, so if you use it you are only going to have to do it once. I would go with the firmer tubing. Still flexible, but will allow you to tout it and make tighter turns without linking. Also, less likely to collapse under high vacuum.
