I took out the secondary muffler and the cats. That was plenty loud enough!!! It was civil enough if you didn't push on it, but once it hit 4 grand, the sound was amazing!!!

i had 3" pipe from the cat back, exiting out a 5" megaphone (Cloutier's Avenger exhaust - http://www.thepowerbroker.net/avenger.htm
click on the megaphone for a sound clip). it wasn't as raspy as the clip sounds - bad recording? like it says on the page, "above 3800rpm, it sounds like the gates of Hell have been thrown open!"
also had a Magnaflow muffler that could be swapped with the megaphone in 10 minutes. i miss that car
