You're absolutely right. I just wasn't expecting all of this work. I am focusing on getting the car up to par mechanically before I do anything fun to it. It's plenty fun as-is

I don't really know where the oil is leaking from. The car & I have a date with the mechanic tomorrow (to take care of high emissions), so I'll find out then.
