Isn't that the goal for flushing the system? Pour in new fluid and pump the brakes until the new clean fluid comes out each one of the bleeders?

Backing off the threads 1/4 turn shouldn't allow air to enter past the threads, and the internal spring loaded check ball only opens when enough pressure is applied to push fluid past it.
