Maybe your transfer clutch is binding.

Just a guess. Try turning tightly on a gravelled surface, and don't power on enough to cause traction slips. If your rears are binding, you will hear the noise and see the marks.

Be sure both rears, in fact all four tyres are to the correct pressure before you do this. A severely deflated tyre will have a much lower and incorrect rolling radius, and can cause this binding.
