Also get a decent buffer (I got mine at sears for like $40 on clearance, was normally like $60), preferably a high speed one, with at least a 7" if not a 9" pad, and get a good quality foam buffing pad. 3M or Meguiar's buffing compounds work really well, that's mostly what we use in the detailing shop at my work.
