There are a number of suggested meanings for these acronyms Paul, and people tend to stick to the one they like best.
I have a Japanese Domestic Market brochure, and SVX has in brackets after it {Subaru Vehicle X}
This actually tallies with what the development engineers said it meant at the 10th Anniversary meet in Lafayette 5 years ago. They said when the car was in development it was apparently the 10th vehicle the design team had worked on, so the parent company used "Subaru Vehicle X" to describe it, X as you know being the Roman numeral for ten.
With no disrespect to these wonderful engineers, this particular interpretation would be most acceptable to me if they were able to show me what cars were SV V11, SV V111 and SV 1X.
I'm just a natural skeptic, I guess
