How do you get the needles off? Do you just yank them off or what? Id rather not break anything while I try this, so knowing is good

The pointers are fitted onto a taper on the shaft and pull off. Pull or lever with two implements on the center hub and directly outwards so as not to bend the shaft. Be careful.
Before removal mark or note the position of the mechanism and pointer, so that you can refit as removed and do not upset the original calibration. You may find a small mark on the face, placed there for this purpose.
