IMHO if you take the time to get your paint from the same lot# a rattlecan paintjob CAN be decent. Like the roller paint, it's far from show-quality, but presentable for a D/D. The key is techinque, and the wetsanding between coats. The final polish needs to wait at least a month for the paint to cure fully. Then a buffer & compund will take out all the overspray, evening up the surface.
Either method, can, or roller, requires a LOT of elbow grease, for a decent appearance. But for the $$$ neither is a bad way to go on a low buck resto.

But Phil
didn't use spray cans, he used a paint sprayer, spraying rustoleum paint.....
I think the roller approach will net better results with a little more effort....but you hardly have do any taping off...and no worring about overspray.....
I wouldn't try it on a nice car...but on a beater...sure
