Yes, it will be better. You will see better mpg around the town and quicker off the line and just slightly worse mpg on the highway from running at a little higher rpm. The higher gear ratio causes less stress and heat on the trans which means the fluid lasts longer and provide better lubrication and protection. It would still be a good idea to install a separate trans fluid cooler and completely bypass the stock trans "cooler" in the radiator...
