the 07 transmission, you will also need to change the rear differential out.
I would suggest finding an already toasted early WRX transmission since 2nd/3rd gears commonly fail. Find one cheap and put your new gears in. This will allow you to keep the rear diff as is. That's my immediate thoughts, but some others will probably, and most likely have a better idea.
