Where do I move this???

Get your head somewhere near the gas peddle and look to the right towards the center at the heater core. You will see a 3 pronged metal "hand" with metal rods attached. The metal rods attach on the other end to plastic pieces that slide along channels. One extends up towards the front and another kind of goes straight up, and there is another horizontal along the top I believe. The last rod is connected to the mix motor that drives it to control the vent position. Since you are hearing clicking that is a good sign, it means the motor is working. What you should do is clean out those channels that it slides along. Clean them out really good using q-tips, then grease them really well with white lithium grease. That will help them slide better. They all kind of move together and as they get older and collect dirt they can get stuck. Sometimes you when hear the clicking you can reach down and try to help it along to get it through the sticking point, once it gets into position it should stay. Mine was like this for a while, always needing a helping hand to move to a different position. I can do it while I am driving now. But my motor eventually died completely and now it just stays in one position. I only ever change it now if I need the defroster. It is not possible to change the motor without taking apart a lot of the dashboard so it is just something I live with.
