It's the sheild that goes under your engine. It is underrated and has many functions.
It stabilizes airflow under the car.
It keeps out dirt and animals from the front of the engine (maybe).
It catches liquids that may spill from your engine.
Without it your headers are exposed and I imagine they cool down quite a bit at high speeds. That's just speculation, but it helps me justify buying a new one.
It makes a scraping noise to let you know you are really close to a curb or parking space divider block thing.
Makes the car look better in the front in general.
