I am pretty sure that 42K would buy a few things. Since Subaru won't build anything remotely like a new SVX...
Maybe a used 997 Targa 4S.
Otherwise:
1: 997 Carrera 4S cabriolet.
2: GTN Automotive targa-style hard top.
3: custom work to remove the folding cloth top, and convert the rear part of the interior over to coupe/targa configuration, and affix the GTN targa roof to the tonneau cover panel directly.
