Interesting, I drive much slower in our 4.44 than I do in my 3.54. Those stock gears are made for high speed cruising, and I can't resist 80-90 mph. I really enjoy the lower 4.44 gears for driving around at home in the mountains, 60mph and less.

If you are mostly highway, stock gears are great. A mix of highway/mountains, probably 4.11 gears would be satisfying.

Yes, you can put the 3.54 diff on any trans of the same vintage.
