The proper pressures on a SVX AC system is 200 psi HI / 28 psi low side. Most of the cheapo gauges will go into the green zone at 35-40 PSI on the low side. At that lvl it will freeze up the condenser and warm air will blow till it thaws some and starts to cycle, it will repeat this all day. The reason it does not lock up in the morning is it is using air that is already cool. Freeze ups normally happen when outside air temp is 85 or higher.
Other possibility is they got some liquid freon is the system.
