Transmission surging issue

All in all, the car made it home great... but I've been noticing a surging issue, generally at low speeds, under light acceleration from 1st to 2nd..... the rpms spike up, and then abruptly shift.... can't be good for the tranny. Plus it's frustrating that I've only had the car 4 days when it started.

I did some research on the "brake band" adjustment... found this link:

Sounds like that could be my problem.... and according to the specifics, it is describing my issue perfectly, and says that I'm "wide".

What does that mean? Turn the adjustment clockwise? counterclockwise? How much? How do I know if it's right? I couldn't find any of this info.

Or.... if it could potentially be another issue?
