Yeah, there's time.
The last word we got was sometime in June or July. We probably won't know exactly until just at the last minute.
He's a changed person, for sure. One of his best friends died in his arms the second day in-country. Then, after what seemed like months (though it was really only days) of all-out warfare, they had to change course overnight to become compassionate caregivers and peacekeepers. He loves the people of Iraq, and they in turn, really seem to love their liberators. (Yeah, I know. Wait a year and then we'll see.) In talking to him, or reading his letters, you can tell that he's been through a few life-altering events.
And I don't mean this as a dig Mitch (well, maybe just a little one - you know me), but he says he's especially thankful for knowing that, either way, life or death, for him it's a homecoming.
