How to search for something smaller than three letters?

Just like the title says...

I was looking to find information about the B solenoid, but the search comes back with the tag about the "B" not being included in the results, as it's less than three letters long. And, needless to say, reducing the search to "solenoid", gets a LOT of replies.

I seem to remember that search engines used to use signs to narrow down a search ( Boolean ? ) .. If those signs would work in the search box, I'd like to know what the command (s) are to be able to add a single, stand alone letter to the search.

Thanks,

Chuck.
