Hi,
Does the car have the retrofit by Subaru transmission oil filter? If not, it is well worth it to try this, take off the transmission cooler lines, and blow compressed air through the cooling circuit in reverse, to blow out the transmission cooler screen/strainer, built into the radiator.
Debris from clutch mat'l breaking down can clog the screen affecting operation of transfer clutches and eventually burning out transmission.
The Subaru retrofit filter instructions advise exactly this reverse flushing of cooler circuit, which is why this is relevant.
