From what I've seen at the track, cross drilled rotors tend to develop cracks around the 'holes' over time even with non-aggressive driving. Slotted rotors have also been known to crack under hard track driving. The only way that these cracks can be prevented is if the slotting/holes are made into the rotor during the forging process.

I would probably say that 'dimpled' is best as the indents are small and don't go very deep into the rotor.
