Larry, I went and took a quick test drive and can definitely hear the whine that the mechanic was talking about, but only when the windows are up. It might be coming from the engine, but since it's barely audible, It's difficult to tell where it's coming from. I can only hear it when revving the engine between moderate and high RPMs.
IF I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, IT STILL DOES IT! When driving or parked. So doesn't that rule out the tranny?
