I like the Fahrenheit scale becasue there is about 2 deg F to 1 deg C
Thanks to the SVX my body knows the difference between 72 and 73 F and in C I would want 1/2 a degree increments
Currently my company has orders for pumps in Japan and Korea. The spec's are calling for metric units. So you would think that means the same thing? Right? Well not exactly. Depending on the user the pressure units called for are kilograms per square centimeter or bars or Pascals
I take a psi any day
The readability of those other units is very poor on a gauge face.
Bolts sizes? There are way too many thread pitches for a given metric bolt diameter. I take the good old USA standard of UNC or UNF any day
There are also ANSI (american) standards for pipe flanges and the there are also (JIS) and (DIN) standards. These are not interchangable. Same goes for pipe sizes.
Pipe threads? The USA uses a tapered pipe thread
This is great compared to other metric straight thread joints. How does one tighten up such a pipe?
The largest reason american companies have resisted change is the COST to change for pipe products and screw fasteners. It would have a very significant impact on the product prices.
