Either way, the motivation for the change in regulations is, as I understand it, due to the few heart attacks that have resulted - mostly through misuse - from ephedrine-containing products. If people are going to be stupid and kill themselves by washing down a bottle of GNC-brand ephedra with Mountain Dew, I suppose banning the straight up stimulant is one thing. Fine, it's not safe. But restricting sales of cold medicine pisses me off.
I don't mind asking the pharmacist for sudafed, but it becomes a slightly bigger hassle when I need it at midnight.
